How Our Online Court Services Work
Local and out-of-province clients utilize our eFiling services through our Court Services Online account. This service is most often taken advantage of by our colleagues in Alberta and Ontario. Many lawyers in these provinces are unfamiliar with the system. Thus, we recommend that you send us your prepared documents in BC Supreme or Provincial Court format, and we can submit them for filing to any Provincial or Supreme Court Registry in British Columbia. We will cover any applicable filing costs upfront for our professional clients.
The court filing fee is $200.00 to commence a new action in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Clients who do not have access to Court Services Online will need to prepare a cheque payable to the Minister of Finance in this amount and make sure it gets to the court registry. The originally signed copies of the documents will also need to be given to the court registry when physically filing. If there is an issue with the papers, the filing will get rejected, and the cheque and the documents will get sent back to the prospective filing client.
When our services are employed, we need PDF copies of the documents, and we will cover the filing costs through our account. Due to these reasons, our eFiling platform is so popular with clients unfamiliar with the system. The frustrations surrounding a rejection from physically attending the courts, including sending the documents back and forth, and payment issues are avoided when the eFiling platform is utilized.
